Fagmedia.com: Noticias Independientes y Opiniones para la Communidad Queer (TM) (Independent News and Opinion for the Queer Community) was established by the Caer-Awen Discretionary Trust (CADT) as an Independent Queer Media Organisation in 2001.

The Trust's concern was and is that some GLBTIQ media Organisations have drifted away from including in print serious issues such as human rights towards a softer
focused social network style of reporting and an increase in the influence of advertisers over editorial content and their ability to
prevent matters of importance to the public interest from being raised in GLBTIQ publications.
On this website the use of the term "concern" reflects the Quaker concept. For more information on this click here.
While "good news" stories and social network marketing does benefit Social Groups and GLBTIQ Associations by promoting their community based events, as the Equal Love Campaign demonstrates, the need to promote good governance and support human rights issues still exists in the GLBTIQ Community!
Our Think Tank is designed to provide a thoughtful and considered space for viewpoints and ideas not commonly found in mainstream media based upon an evidentiary based reporting framework. Our hope is that we can help Queer people with the expiation of stigmatic guilt (that guilt we direct at ourselves or the guilt we apply to others) while assisting with the promulgation of Universal Joy, especially among GLBTIQ people while being a GLBTIQ Liberation Organisation.
Community Interest and Promotion of Clubs and Social Groups: Fagmedia seeks to support and co-operate with other organizations who adhere to aims, objectives and processes that are compatible with principles of good governance and actively seek to implement organisational structures based on participatory democracy and equal opportunity and who share our concern with the physical and social environment of all in the GLBTIQ community.
Brand Name Reviews: One of our aims is to review those activities and policies of public, statutory and private organisations which affect the GLBTIQ community and to ensure that brand name organisations which raise funds from the GLBTIQ Community and seek to represent the GLBTIQ Community comply with principles of good governance and actively seek to implement organisational structures based on participatory democracy and equal opportunity.
Religion Sex & Politics: Fagmedia's key point of difference is that we do indeed include content relating to matters that some think "we the people" should not talk about and leave to others more "qualified" to speak such as school chaplains. Fagmedia does undertake to represent GLBTIQ views and interests before public, statutory and private organisations. For example, we provided written submissions to the Australian Senate's investigation on Same Sex Marriage and Headspace's enquiry into GLBTIQ Issues. It is out hope that these documents will make a difference and enable government's to develop more inclusive and socially just policies.
Health and Wellbeing. Fagmedia is committed to carrying out safer sex education and raise awareness about the needs of HIV+ people within the GLBTIQ Community and to this end the Trust is proud to support the good work of the Sisters of the Order of Perpetual Indulgence of Western Australia, the Order of Perpetual Indulgence of the Great Southern Land and People Living with HIV/AIDS WA Inc. Fagmedia reports on matters relating to HIV to support positive people who are prevented from speaking in public for fear of stigma and discrimination.
Fagmedia's position is that levels of HIVphobia are unacceptably high in the GLBTIQ Community and Stigma and Discrimination contributes to the dis-empowered silence that limits community conversations about HIV/AIDS and enables AIDS Organisations to conduct operations while avoiding the public scrutiny, full service transparency and accountability that is given to other more "socially acceptable" health conditions.
To those who question our approach we ask, how does sweeping under the carpet, the "wrongdoings" of a few,
benefit everyone in the GLBTIQ Community and contribute to our long term future?
